MT5 backtest report analyzer

Drop the HTML report from the MT5 Strategy Tester and get the numbers that matter: drawdown from the balance and from the report’s equity figure, the longest losing streak, time under water, monthly returns, and the warning signs a sales page leaves out.

How it is calculated

The report is read in your browser. The analyzer takes the Deals table, groups each closing deal with the fees of its opening deal, and rebuilds the balance after every deal.

Drawdown is the largest fall of that balance from a previous peak. The equity drawdown is taken from the report itself, because only the tester sees floating losses on open trades.

Red flags compare the numbers with simple rules: history quality under 90%, fewer than 100 trades, less than a year of data, equity drawdown far deeper than the balance drawdown, or a profit factor that looks too good for the sample size.

To save a report in MT5: run the test, open the Backtest tab, right-click and choose Report → HTML.

Profit factor = Gross profit ÷ Gross loss · Recovery factor = Net profit ÷ Max drawdown · Expectancy = Net profit ÷ Trades

FAQ

Is my report uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is opened by your browser and never sent to our server. Closing the tab removes it.

Why is the equity drawdown higher than the balance drawdown?

Balance only changes when trades close. Equity includes trades that are still open. Grid, martingale and no-stop EAs often hold large floating losses that never show on the balance line until they close.

What history quality do I need?

Close to 100%, using "Every tick based on real ticks". Lower quality means the tester filled gaps with generated prices, which flatters scalpers and EAs with tight stops.

Does it work with MT4 reports?

It is built for the MT5 report layout. MT4 reports use a different table and are not supported yet.
