Would your EA pass a prop firm challenge?

Drop an MT5 Strategy Tester report and replay its trades against the challenge rules of FTMO, FundingPips, The5ers and FundedNext: profit target, minimum days, daily loss and max loss, phase by phase. The file never leaves your browser.

How it is calculated

The report’s closed trades are turned into a percentage of its starting deposit, so the result does not depend on the deposit you tested with. Each trade is then applied to a fresh challenge account in order.

Every day the checker records where the balance started. If the day’s closed losses reach the firm’s daily limit, the challenge fails that day. It fails on max loss when the balance reaches the floor: fixed below the start for static rules, following the highest balance for trailing ones, or the highest end-of-day balance for FTMO 1-Step. A phase passes when the target is reached and the minimum number of trading days is met; the next phase starts from a new account.

Not modelled: floating loss, news and weekend restrictions, lot limits and consistency rules. Read the full rules on each prop firm page and check a single trade plan with the prop firm calculator.

FAQ

What does “pass rate, every start week” mean?

A challenge that starts on a good week can pass while the same EA started a week later fails. The checker starts a new challenge at the first trade of every week in your report and counts how many would have passed. A high first-attempt result with a low pass rate means you were lucky with the start date.

Why does my EA fail the daily loss when the backtest looks fine?

Daily loss limits are small, often 3–5% of the account, and they reset every day. A few losing trades on one day can break them even if the month ends in profit. Try the lot size slider: halving the size often turns a fail into a pass, at the cost of more days to reach the target.

Does it check floating losses?

Not directly. An MT5 report only lists closed trades, but every firm measures loss limits on equity, including open trades. The checker warns you when the report’s own equity drawdown is large. Grid and martingale EAs usually fail on equity long before the closed trades show it.

Are the rules up to date?

Each firm’s rules were read from its official website on the date shown on its page. Firms change rules often, so check the firm’s site before you buy a challenge.
