- Candle ClosePrice action & SMCA candle close is the last price a candlestick records before its time period ends, such as the final price at the end of a 1-hour candle. Once it prints, it is fixed and no longer changes.
- CandlestickPrice action & SMCA candlestick is one bar on a price chart that shows four prices for a set period: the open, high, low and close. A thick body spans the open and close, and thin wicks reach the high and low.
- CCIOscillators & momentumThe CCI (Commodity Channel Index) is a momentum oscillator that measures how far price has moved from its recent average. It is scaled so most readings sit between +100 and −100, and readings beyond those lines flag an unusually strong move.
- Centerline crossOscillators & momentumA centerline cross happens when an oscillator such as RSI, Stochastic, CCI or MACD moves from one side of its middle value (50 or 0) to the other. It signals that momentum has switched from bearish to bullish, or the reverse.
- Change of characterPrice action & SMCA change of character (CHoCH) is the first candle close beyond the swing point that kept a trend alive, such as a close above the latest lower high in a downtrend. It is the earliest structural sign that the trend may be turning.
- Chart templateMetaTrader & platform basicsA chart template is a saved chart setup (chart type, colours, indicators and their settings) that you can apply to any other chart in one step, so every market you open looks and measures the same way.
- Choppiness indexVolatility & rangesThe Choppiness Index (CHOP) is a 0–100 indicator that tells you whether a market is trending or moving sideways. High readings mean choppy, range-bound price. Low readings mean a directional move, but the indicator never says which direction.
- CommissionBrokers, accounts & prop firmsCommission is a fee your broker charges for executing a trade, usually a fixed amount per lot, per share or per order. It is separate from the spread and is charged whether the trade wins or loses.
- Consecutive lossesBacktesting & statisticsConsecutive losses are losing trades that come one after another with no winning trade in between. The longest such run in a backtest or live record is reported as max consecutive losses.
- Consistency ruleBrokers, accounts & prop firmsA consistency rule is a prop firm condition that limits how much of your total profit may come from a single trading day, usually stated as a percentage such as 20% or 25%. It checks that your result comes from steady trading, not one big win.
- Contract SpecificationMetaTrader & platform basicsA contract specification is the broker's rulebook for one tradable instrument: how many units one lot holds, the smallest price step, what that step is worth, trading hours, margin and overnight fees.
- Currency QuoteForex basicsA currency quote is the price of one currency in terms of another. It is written as a pair, such as EUR/USD 1.1000, which means one unit of the first (base) currency costs 1.1000 units of the second (quote) currency.
